What types of access settings are there and how to configure them?
Restrictions
Time Limit: You can predetermine how long users can access your page. If you want your page to only be visible for one semester, or if you have a course of study that should not be accessible once the exam begins.
To use the time limit, activate the slider to Yes (1) and then select a start date and time (2) as well as an end date and time (3).
If someone tries to access the page outside of the set time, they will see this error message:
Authentication
There are four ways to access the platform, you can leave it completely open, you can protect it with a password, you can require registration or you can implement Single Sign On (SSO).
1. Open Page – The landing page is open and accessible to everyone who wants to visit it. People who access the site have the Guest user role. You can learn more about the different roles here: "SmartZoom User Roles".
To leave the page open simply turn all the sliders to No (1,2,3,4).
By leaving the page open, the user will be able to see the content immediately:
2. Password Protected: You set a password and everyone with that password can access the page again with the Guest user role.
To use password protection, activate the authentication slider (1), select Password Authentication (2), and set a password of your choice (3).
Users who reach the page must first enter the password to access the content.
3. Registration: The user needs to create an account to access the page, for this they need a valid email address. Once they create the account and confirm it, they can log in to the site. By default they will have the Student user role. You can learn more about the different roles here "SmartZoom User Roles".
To use registration, activate the authentication slider (1) and select Registered User Authentication (2).
Users who reach the page must log in first to access the content. See how to register here "Register SmartZoom User Account".
There are different ways to restrict registration, such as a domain filter or manual approval. You can read more about them here "Registration Restrictions".
4. SSO (single sign-on): If your organization uses SSO, it can also be implemented in SmartZoom; Please contact technical support for this feature.
